EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:                   Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY:  The Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Clinic plays an essential role in assuring the future viability of the clinic and health services provided to the areas underserved. In this capacity, the Executive Director, under the direction of the Board of Directors, is responsible for the overall management and operations of all aspects of clinic care to achieve its mission of service to the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participates in the development and consistent implementation of a strategic plan for clinic activities.
  • Recommends to the board, annual operational goals/objectives and budget.
  • Creates an atmosphere of respect throughout the clinic with staff, volunteers and publics.
  • Creates operational systems to insure accountability and transparency of clinic activities.
  • Maintains open and appropriate communications with the Board of Directors
  • Operates the clinic within budget constraints or pursues Board approval.
  • Recruits, selects and supervises staff.
  • Provides annual evaluations and counseling if appropriate.
  • Promotes, disciplines and terminates in accordance with legal requirements and Board policy.
  • Is directly involved in the recruitment, processing and orientation of all volunteers.
  • Maintains all aspects of clinic operations in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Prepares and revises job descriptions, employee handbook and employment policies.
  • Works with fund raising activities to identify and maintain support; pursue grants and other non- operational funds.
  • Maintains all Clinic properties in a professional manner.
  • Assists Board committees as requested or appropriate.
  • Other duties as directed by the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Embraces the Mission of the clinic with a genuine passion to serve the poor and underserved.
  • Strong human relations skills and the ability to create a supportive relationship among staff, volunteers, clients and the publics served. People motivator and leader.
  • Ability to solve problems and be a leader of change. Broad administrative experience with credible results.
  • Self-starter and the ability to set priorities, time lines and accountability.
  • Proven financial experience and results.
  • Health administration experience
  • Provide a positive professional impression.
  • Public speaking experience.

EDUCATION:

  • College degree in related field or equivalent experience.
